What is wearable technology?
Wearable technology is usually in the form or a watch or bracelet, the benefits of this have been promoting independence in people. What this wearable technology can do is send a notification through to the person wearing it encouraging them to have a drink every half hour, remind them to take their medication and it can even pick up on peoples heart rate if they suffer with a heart condition and send an alert through to the relevant person.
Wearable technology is something is still currently being trialled at present, but the benefits are already showing, maintaining independence is something that is so important to all of us and if wearing a watch can help in promoting this then I’m all for it!

Is using this technology safe?
Yes, using this technology is safe, its secured so as only people who are allowed the access can see the data that has been stored. With technology in home care if a carer does not support you with your care package then they will not have access to your information. Using this technology means communication between the care company, the client and the clients family members can be smooth and efficient.
As all things even technology in care has its down falls, such as glitches as this is still a new thing that is being rolled out some of the glitches are still being worked out so at times it can come across as slow. Another issue can be that as this is new technology it can take time to train the staff on this and it can take time for this to become the norm for the service user.
Technology is always improving getting faster and easier to use, the perks of using this in a care setting are limitless and they are only going to get better.
